How did we create this loft conversion for our client?
Abbotts Gardens is a road we have enjoyed working in on many occasions over the years and with enviable rear views it makes sense to maximise access to this with a bi-fold door feature to create that wow factor.
Key Features
We made the most of the rear view facing green belt by installing bi-fold doors and a glazed Juliet balcony. We also created a walk-in wardrobe to the front that consisted of a wall about 1.2M high which, while providing privacy allowed light from the front Velux roof lights to fill the room.
Challenges
With the permitted development allowance being already absorbed by a two story side extension pitched roof, we had to flatten the pitch and create a crown roof detail to give us back some of the 50 cubic metres used up. Every bit of which would be needed to do a hip to gable loft conversion on this house.
Results
The conversion provided a great master bedroom with a large bathroom and walk-in wardrobe. The end result was so impressive – it was featured in the Sunday Times.
